Are you going on holiday in England and crossing the channel with the ferry from Hoek van Holland to Harwich? Grange Farm Campsite, near the village Thorpe-le-Soken (Essex), is your ideal first place to stay after you’ve crossed the channel. This small-scale farm campsite is less than 25 minutes from Harwich’s ferry terminal by car. It is handy that the campsite management takes the arrival times of the ferries into account. This is also a nice campsite for a longer stay. You then have the time to enjoy the typical English country life.

Small-scale campsite

This farm campsite has three attractive camping fields. Cherry Field and Brambles Field have grassy pitches, and the pitches on Brambles Field are suitable for tents and small caravans and motorhomes. Oak Field has a mix of grassy pitches and paved pitches.

Enjoy life on the farm

If you have always wanted to camp at a farm, the camping fields belong to an arable farm where there is lots of activity, in part due to the agricultural vehicles that drive around the grounds. At harvest time, the working day is long. Beautiful scenes: the combines and tractors that are busy with the harvest until late in the day while the sun slowly sinks below the horizon ...

What is there to do in the vicinity?

The surrounding area has lovely walks and bicycle rides through gently rolling landscapes. The nearest walk is one to the centre of the village of Thorpe-le-Soken (1.1 km). Be sure to visit one of the local pubs there. This campsite is a short distance away from the North Sea coast. Fun coastal resorts like Frinton-on-Sea, Clacton-on-Sea and Walton-on-the-Naze are only a fifteen-minute drive away.

Travelling party: Single

Stayed for 2 nights whilst on a local motorcycle run. Could have stayed longer if time allowed. Very efficiently run with nice friendly staff. Facilities excellent and loads of space between tents. Quiet, peaceful site. Short walk to the local village for supplies. A lovely stay.

  • A12 exit Colchester to A120. Stay on the A120 until the A133. Follow this road to the B1033. In the village take the B1414. Turn right at the bend to the farm track to Grange Farm.
