First Camp Orsa is situated in the town of Orsa, which is predominantly known for its bear park, Orsa Björnpark. It forms an ideal base because of its location at Lake Orsasjön, a spur of the popular Siljan Lake. This part of Dalarna has much to offer the tourist: natural beauty and many attractions such as museums.

This large campsite is easy to reach from the E45; when you come from Mora, turn left at the first traffic circle and drive through the village, where road signs will send you in the right direction. You will be assisted by helpful staff members in the sleek and businesslike reception. The same building also houses a restaurant and a bowling alley. The spacious pitches (637 with electricity) are laid out along dirt roads and between trees. Most of the pitches offer a view of the lake.

A hut or a cottage?

The large campsite has a large number of holiday cottages in the shape of solid log cabins with all amenities, such as a private shower/toilet and fireplace. They are suitable for four to six persons. These cabins form their own neighbourhood on the campsite. You can also rent mobile homes. They have three bedrooms with two beds each, own shower/toilet and a fully equipped kitchen.

How to learn about bears

The unequalled attraction of Orsa is bear park Orsa Björnpark, some 16 km north of the campsite. The animals roam freely in nature on a gigantic, fenced-off terrain. Not only brown bears, but also wolves, eland, red deer, lynx and wolverines.

Travelling party: Couple

Wij boekten een campingplek via het online systeem van First Camp en kozen een beschikbare plek via de plattegrond met beschikbare plekken dichtbij het water (i.v.m. koudwater zwemmen).
Echter zonder enig overleg werd de plek gewijzigd, naar een plek midden op de camping. Toen wij gebruik wilden maken van de douche en het toilet bleek daar een enorme rioollucht te hangen. Dit zowel in de heren alsook in de damesruimte.
Wij hebben de volgende morgen bij de receptie ons beklag gedaan en de receptioniste aldaar begreep er niets van: de door ons gekozen plek, was en is vrij.
Zij kon echter verder niks doen dan ons wijzen op een klachtmogelijkheid.
Echter het indienen van een klacht werd simpelweg weggewuifd als geen reden voor tegemoetkoming.
Dit betekend dat ook al heb je een vrije plek gekozen: First Camp je zo maar een andere plek toewijst. En dan zonder reden !

Voor ons nooit meer First Camp, vieze sanitaire ruimte en je bent je zelf gekozen vrije plek niet zeker.
