Camping Altomira is situated between the Espadán and Calderona nature reserves, some 25 km from the Mediterranean and an hour's drive from the fascinating city of Valencia. It is a quiet spot from where you can venture anywhere. From the campsite there are wonderful walking and cycling routes over paved trails.

Stunning view

The steep, terraced campsite offers reasonably large, beautifully laid out pitches on compacted gravel. On the lowest section you will find many permanent pitches, as well as most of the facilities. Rental accommodation units (bungalows) are located on the middle section. On the top section, campers have a splendid view of Navajas and the surrounding area. The pitches here are demarcated with hedges and are sheltered by an artificial sunroof.

Nice swimming pool

There is a lovely swimming pool with separate toddler pool (depth 50 cm) surrounded by sun loungers. It is a wonderful area to relax in the shade of the pine trees.

Walking along former mining routes

Children can play to their heart's content on a play area and sports field. Furthermore, there is an entertainment programme in high season. There are also excursion programmes and guided walks. Starting from the campsite are some great walking and cycling routes over the so-called 'camis verdes', paved trails on former narrow-gauge railway lines used for mining. There is a bicycle workshop for campers with their own bicycle. Very handy when your push-bike has to be repaired.

Paella

There is an excellent restaurant with limited menu (daily menu) where you can also eat delicious paella for a very reasonable price. Daily fresh bread is available. There is a supermarket at a distance of only 4 km. There are a few barbecues on the campsite.

Prebooked a pitch for one night and had confirmation all was booked and no payment asked for. On arrival after 10 minutes was told the campsite was full to us as I had not paid any money. The email did not say Payment was due. After much conversation and advised to go to another site I suggested we stayed as we had made a booking and it had been confirmed. The campsite is undergoing major redevelopment. We were eventually offered a road pitch. The restaurant was amazing. Disappointed re booking

We stayed for 3 nights. Our cat became adventurous and this lead to an extraordinary rescue mission which was accomplished by Toni of the technical staff: he went down a vertical wall to get her unstuck from under a mesh and brought her back! Heartfelt thanks to him!
It must be said that every staff member was very friendly and efficient.
I also very much appreciated that the toilet and shower block was kept warm at this time of year.
The pitches are small and close to one another, so we wouldn't want to stay too long, but would certainly come back if we are on this route again.

Liked - The site is very well laid out although tight if you have a 7+metres van
Disliked - Some of the staff were lovely, 1 staff member was quite rude and sharp.

We stayed one night while touring. The site is built on a steep slope but the pitches are level. It\'s close to a typical small town where you can experience the real Spain. There is a disused railway line just above the site that has been hard-cored so you can cycle as far as you like.

The best part, however, was the restaurant. There were 5 courses: tomato puree on toast, calamari, tuna salad, seafood paella, dessert. Excellent quality and value

The site is very steeply accessed and it is possible that some caravans may find access a little difficult. Some pitches are difficult to access, but most are OK. Navajas is a pleasant little town with a few facilities. There is a disused railway tracked adjacent to the site which has been surfaced as a cycle track or footpath. This is actually a very long distance track for those who wish to take such advantage. The town has a railway station for access to the coast.
