Camping Rio Vero is a quiet, green terraced campsite amidst nature, ideal for finding some peace and quiet. But also adventurers who do not fear water and canyons will feel at home here. The campsite is situated in a forested region of the Spanish Pyrenees, some 5 km from the medieval town of Alquézar. The nature park Sierra y Canones de Guara, renowned for its canyons, pink/red rock formations, flora, fauna and pre-historic rock paintings, is also close by.

Camping pitches

The campsite is open and elongated and lies at an altitude of 500 m. It is not excessively maintained or laid-out, but rather blended-in with nature. The Rio Vero river runs alongside the campsite. The camping pitches, with little demarcation and partly under tall trees, offer ample space. There are a few dozen tents and mobile homes for rent.

What do campers look for here?

The campsite mainly focuses on white water rafting enthusiasts and canyon hikers. The less adventurous hiker can walk on well laid out trails along rock faces and gorges. You can bathe and play in the river next to the campsite.

Camping shop and restaurant

The camping shop is a small supermarket with basic foodstuffs. The range is more than adequate. In the shop you can also get material for rafting, canyoning, via ferrata and climbing (buy or rent). The restaurant with cosy terrace and fast service is located at the entrance of the campsite. The menu offers ample choice. There is also a pizzeria. Take-away meals are also offered.

Clean sanitary facilities

The sanitary building, centrally located on the grounds, has rather dated sanitary fittings. Everything is kept in clean condition, though.

Travelling party: Seniors

This site has better quality pitches (grass), very friendly staff and nice bar/restaurant. Facilities are somewhat dated but in keeping with the nature of the site. Clean and adequate sanitary facilities. Staff very engaged and offered advice on area etc. Alquazar is 3 km away is well worth a visit but is up a very steep road and in the heat a challenge for the unfit.
