Total tranquillity
On the farm campsite you can hear a pin drop. A total tranquillity envelops the large lawn of the campsite and its surroundings. Those seeking peace and quiet can camp here on spacious touring pitches on the edge of the plot. Tree rings provide shelter, especially against the wind. Furthermore, the campsite, which overlooks the wide surroundings, has a very open character.
Uithuizen and the Menkemaborg
If you camp at camping Maarlandhoeve, you are just in the built-up area of Uithuizen. Handy, because you never have to go far for groceries. In its centre, less than a kilometre away, there are several supermarkets together. Be sure to drive along the Menkemaborg if you decide to explore Uithuizen. Where there used to be more than two hundred of these Groningen castles, now there are only a few left.
By bike or canoe?
The flat landscape of the Hogeland, a region in the north of Groningen, attracts many cyclists. The roads are narrow and quiet, here in the countryside; ideal for campers who like to cycle through the charming villages of Groningen, situated between the fields. You can also explore this area from the water. Canoes can be hired on the campsite.
