Close to Catania, on the rocky coast of the Ionian Sea, you will find the medium-sized terraced campsite Jonio. The campsite extends at the foot of Mount Etna. The centre of Catania is some 5 km from the campsite. The campsite is very popular because of the beautiful view of the sea and its tranquillity. The campsite is located near a quiet residential area.

Camping with a sea view

Campsite Jonio (1.2 ha) is located in a wooded area. There are eighty touring pitches on the grounds. You have a choice of a pitch with more or less shade or even in the sun. Please keep in mind that the surface of the terraced campsite is mostly hard. The most beautiful pitches have seaview. Ideal to watch the sunrise. Camper vans and caravans are parked on a terrain with beautiful view of the cliffs and the waves.

The well equipped bungalows and mobile homes stand relatively close together. Yet, you have ample privacy.

Swimming, windsurfing and snorkelling

You can reach the sea and rocky coast via a flight of stairs. There is no beach, but you can swim in the sea between the rocks. You can go windsurfing and snorkelling at Jonio. Diving lessons are also offered.

Dining out

The campsite restaurant offers an extensive menu and has a large terrace. Pizzas, snack and take-away meals are also available here. The bar has a spacious area featuring regular shows and performances by dancers or musicians. On the campsite you can buy daily fresh bread or breakfast and a modest range of groceries.

Travelling party: Seniors

Prima camping vlakbij Catania. Geen afgebakende plaatsen. De bereikbaarheid vonden wij wat minder. Je rijdt helemaal langs het havengebied. Tijdens onze heenreis was hier veel afgesloten vanwege een comic festival. Omleidingen die hier de oorzaak van waren vertroebelen mogelijk ons beeld.
Als uitvalsbasis voor een bezoek aan de Etna en bijv. Catania een mooie locatie.
Het sanitair is netjes, voldoende aanwezig en wordt regelmatig schoongemaakt.
Opmerking over de ACSI prijs: er wordt inderdaad het ACSI vroegseizoen tarief gerekend. De auto mag niet op de plek en moet buiten de camping geparkeerd worden. Deze rekenwijze hadden we nog niet eerder meegemaakt op Sicilië.
Het seizoen kwam dit jaar laat op gang waardoor de drukte op de camping erg meeviel. We hebben gebruikgemaakt van het restaurant maar op basis daarvan is moeilijk een compleet oordeel te geven. De capaciteit is in elk geval groter dan dat nodig was tijdens ons bezoek. Wij waren als paar alleen in het restaurant.
Camping Jonio biedt ook duikfaciliteiten aan.

Travelling party: Couple

Zeer goed gelegen om Catania te bezichtigen eventueel met de fiets , leuke plaats aan de zee gekregen tijdens de kortingsperiode met acsi , veel eetgelegenheden in de buurt van het haventje nabij camping ( vooral vis ) het was een prachtige tijd !
