The Simos campsite has a unique location in the protected nature reserve on the idyllic island of Elafonisos, which lies to the south of the Peloponnese. Just fifty metres from the campsite, beyond the dunes, lies a spectacular sandy beach along the Mediterranean. Simos is a well-organised, spaciously designed campsite with large pitches for caravans and campers as well as separate areas for tents.

Camping amidst the mountains
Elafonisos is a hilly island: you can even see the green mountains rising around the campsite. However, the site itself is entirely flat, which makes it a perfect place to set up your camping equipment. The property has separate areas for those camping in tents. These are kept apart from the touring pitches for caravans and campers. Nearly all the pitches are in the shade, which is largely provided by hung cloths, but also by trees.
The clear waters of Simos Beach
The only thing separating Simos Beach, the broad sandy coast along the Mediterranean Sea, from the campsite are the dunes. The beach is composed of fine, white sand, which is fairly unusual for Greece. The water here is crystal clear and the view is stunning: both sides of the bay are enclosed by the island's rugged hills. You can hire a thatched umbrella or a lounger for some additional comfort.
Souvlaki and cocktails
The cafe and restaurant on the campsite serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. The authentic Greek dishes, like souvlaki, are the highlight, but you can also order baked goods and ice cream. The large covered terrace provides a wonderful seating area in the shade. The campsite also features a mini-mart with a decent range of offerings. The bar on the site, which opens at 10 in the evening, is a great place to spend sultry nights filled with summery music and refreshing cocktails.
