This campsite is very suitable for an overnight stop on the way to Denmark, Sweden or Norway. At some two km from Husum, an attractive harbour town on the west coast of Schleswig-Holstein, lies the Husumer Campingplatz, directly behind the sea dike. From the camping pitches you have a view of the dike, where the many ambling sheep seem to enhance the tranquillity of the campsite.

Camping behind the dike
The flat countryside behind the sea dike consists primarily of grasslands, as does the campsite itself. You camp here on an open field, as there is little vegetation. You can reach the dike via a gate at the edge of the campsite. Behind the dike is the North Sea, but at low tide the area falls completely dry and you cannot even see the water.
Wadden
This part of Schleswig-Holstein, on the Wadden Sea, is called Nordfriesland. The Nordfrisian Wadden Islands, which are located off the coast here, do not all have a sea wall. The smaller islands, the so-called 'Halligen', only have man-made mounds; at very high tide they are submerged and the sea has free reign.
The larger islands are certainly worth visiting. From the mainland you reach the Nordstrand island via a dam, from where you can cross to the island of Pellworm by ferry. Great for cycling. Don't have your own bicycle? You can hire one from the campsite!
Four-legged friends are welcome
If you want to bring your dog along on holiday, this campsite is the right place for you. Dogs are very welcome here. What's more, there is also a special dog beach. A breath of fresh sea air with your faithful four-legged companion.
