Travelling party: Couple

We stayed here as a base for exploring the Black Forest. We had a tent and car.

The gentleman at reception was extremely helpful and spoke excellent English.

The pitches are indicated, but marked out softly with slabs in the ground. The rules allow campers to get as close as they like and to block in others. This is just a bit rubbish when you arrive to a tent and car blocking you in- hedges or small fences would be an excellent improvement.

The electricity hookup was a little inconveniently in a locked cupboard- a member of staff connects/disconnects and takes meter readings (while this is fairer and worked out cheaper for us and the staff member was very friendly, a flat rate for a pitch with electricity that you connect to at your own leisure is bettering worth the extra payment in our experience).

The staff were very friendly and helpful- the bar is excellent. The lady serving indulged me in practicing my German speaking which was really fun. The prices were very, very agreeable.

There are table tennis areas and there is access of a well equipped municipal swimming pool agreed for site users.

The toilet blocks show their age a little, but were cleaned very regularly. There were some issues with odours in the toilets- perhaps better ventilation/extractors are needed.

The price was very reasonable and the site is located well.

We had no issue with the site observing lunchtime and closing the barriers, and late closure is normal everywhere I have stayed- if you plan around and/or accept the barrier closing you’ll be fine, and it’s much safer at night for it.

The sites own pitches appear much better than the third party pitches.

The biggest issue here is the long term guests.
There was a man with a very unsightly caravan area (like a shanty town), and he shouted a lot and behaved in a weird way. He also rode his scooter around and made my partner feel very unsafe- she did not enjoy having to walk to the toilet at night past him. I can imagine he would also intimidate or scare children too.

Sadly, this man alone is a reason not to stay here as he ruins what would otherwise be a good campsite. I would strongly advise the management set some rules for these guests as they are surely losing repeat business due to them.

I would only stay again if I knew this man was moved to a designated area for long term guests and given some rules to live by, or preferably removed.

I hope that this campsite can sort these issues because it is potentially an excellent campsite in a great place.
