Des Grands Cols campsite is located in the shade of the high mountains of the Savoie. A real campsite for cycling enthusiasts who want to conquer the infamous Alpine cols of the Tour de France. Des Grands Cols campsite is also a good starting point for mountain hikers and motorcyclists. On this neat, small-scale campsite you can camp on spacious pitches between trees and hedges in a green, relaxing environment. And always with that beautiful view of the 'grands cols'.

Camping pitches with shade

The camping fields bear the names of the cols and each contain about eight to ten pitches, mainly for caravans. These pitches are spacious and often in the shade of trees and hedges. For tents and campers there are separate, slightly smaller pitches. Sometimes you will see a special hiker's cabin among the pitches, but most of the rental accommodations are located on the higher part of the campsite.

Cycling, hiking boots and motorcycle helmets

The majority of campsite visitors consist of avid cycling enthusiasts who are eager to climb the mountains by bicycle or mountain bike. But the mountain landscape is also a paradise for hikers and motorcyclists. At Des Grands Cols campsite, you will also come across many hiking boots and motorcycle helmets.

Restaurants in Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne

In the restaurant at the reception, you can satisfy your worst cravings with small dishes and snacks. For a more extensive meal there are nice, cosy restaurants to be found in Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne, just a ten-minute walk away. This is the perfect place for your daily shopping.

There is only one toilet building at the back of the campsite grounds but for the eighty pitches, this is enough.

Travelling party: Couple

Brilliantly located for those wishing to cycle the grands cols of the TdF. Lovely views & easy walking to town with plenty of local restaurants. Pitches generous/private with drinking water & EHU - not 100% level. Staff friendly & helpful. There is a little bar and you can order bread/pastries most mornings. Let down a bit by lack of toilet seats and paper - apparently people steal it!! - and the water warm rather than hot. There are laundry machines. Good site. We'd return.

Nice flat pitches which are mostly lined with bushes, plenty of shops within walking distance, clothes washing facilities, good base for cycling.

Not easy to find unless the signage has changed, and an awkward entrance.
However a great site in a beautiful location the staff pleasant and extremely helpful. will definitely return.
