In the green hilly valley of the Rhône you'll find the child-friendly campsite Île de la Comtesse in a regal position: on Lake Cuchet at the foot of the rugged Alps range. Enjoy the lovely mountain air, the quiet atmosphere and the special sights in the area (a wild animal park, the waterfalls at Glandieu and Lyon).

Lake view

The property looks spacious, is organized and well maintained. There are many trees providing shade. The spacious sites separated by greenery are set up along long streets. The sites have grassy ground, and some have a view of the lake. Want to rent something? You can choose between mobile homes, wooden chalets and bungalow tents.

Water pleasure

Kid's always have fun when there's water around. You can choose between the heated swimming pool with water slide and Lake Cuchet. There is a hoist at the swimming pool for the disabled. They've even thought about toddlers, with a pool, little slide and mushroom. Are the older kids coming too? They'll have a great time. They can windsurf and waterski on the lake.

Mini club for children

There is a playground, a sports field, a panna field, facilities for poor weather and cycle hire. There are also Dutch language activities for all ages, such as a daily mini club where children can do crafts and sports.

Campsite restaurant

In the high season you can enjoy snacks, pizza and local dishes in the campsite restaurant. In the low season this is only open in the weekend. A small selection of groceries and the bread service are available in the shop at the reception.

Travelling party: Young couple

Liked - Very friendly staff. Good location with excellent cycling. Good sized pitches and not too crowded. The facilities, while dated, were very clean and the water hot. We would hope to return one day.
Disliked - River plots only have 6 amp electricity. Most caravanners would like at least 10 amps these days. Some road need a bit of attention.

Liked - We stayed in a mobile home 75 and were surrounded by tents . No privacy , no views of the river . Probably the worst spot. The bedroom window opens up to a tent , the kitchen window to caravan wall and facing tents from the front. No toaster or kettle and the pillows were dreadful.
Overall a good stay and planning to return but I will asking for a different spot .

Liked - We were nearing the end of a six week bike tour through Europe. The Comtesse was a nice point.

Travelling party: Family with children, 4 – 12 years

Liked - We stayed at this campsite last year in a mobilehome and enjoyed the accomodation and the area, despite covid restrictions at the time. So we wanted to try again without the covid restrictions and in our camper/tent. We were not disappointed! The pitch was excellent, the atmosphere lively but not disruptive, the swimming pool was great for the kids and the facilities were wonderful and extremely clean with great hot showers. The area is great for exploring and very close to parc Walibi.
Disliked - The only criticism we would make is the lack of lifeguard at the pool. Obviously, we were there to keep an eye on the children but it would have been more reassuring to have someone on duty to make sure people were sticking to the rules, especially on the slides.

Liked - We stayed with a family of 4, 2 young kids. The kids went to mini club 5 days a week. They had fun. Last year we were also on the campsite and we think the mini club was more creative last year. We love the new swimmingpool! It's very nice shaped en spacious. Lots of animation on the campsite and good coorparation with partner companies. We went on a canoe trip, pick up and drop off at the campsite, very nice.
Disliked - Not enough shade (parasols) at the pool. A lot of guests were claiming beds all day, even when they were not at the pool.
The cleaning of sanitary building takes very long. Timing was during morning rush hour. Which meant that at cleaning time you had only 3 sit down toilets available for the whole campsite. The floors were not dry after cleaning, so after 2 minutes it was dirty already.

Liked - L’emplacement était bien exposé, bien ombragé et bien situé (proche des douches et de la réception).

Le personnel était très accueillant.
Disliked - Le bloc de béton servant de pied de parasol sur lequel ma fille a trébuché près de la piscine.
