This very modest campsite with youth hostel and restaurant lies directly opposite the old centre of Avignon. From the terrace you have a view of the Palais des Papes, the largest Gothic building from the Middle Ages in Europe. The campsite lies directly on the Rhône, near the famous bridge over the river. You cannot camp any closer to the city, it is only a ten minute walk to the centre. Camping Bagatelle (open throughout the year) is convenient for a short stay only. For instance, as an overnight stop or to visit Avignon.

Transit campsite
There are more than 200 touring pitches and some 20 motorhome pitches. You can expect compact pitches. The terrain does not have much to offer. There a some hedges here and there for demarcation. Bagatelle also has a youth hostel and a hotel on the grounds. Your fellow campers are people who want to visit Avignon. They come here in July for the well-known annual arts festival. La Bagatelle is actually a transit campsite, intended for guests who are mainly interested in the city sights.
Swimming and canoeing
Adjacent to the campsite is a swimming pool (not part of the campsite), which is also located by the Rhône. The river is not suitable for swimming, but canoeing is a favourite pastime here.
Eating and drinking
The large campsite supermarket stocks an extensive range. The restaurant prepares good, affordable meals and has a large terrace. Both restaurant and terrace offer an attractive view of the city.
Sanitary facilities
The sanitary facilities are housed in a large and old building. All in all it is very basic and, according to Dutch standards, somewhat dated.
