In the heart of the Marais de Poitevin, near Magné, you will find the small family campsite Le Martin-Pêcheur. This is a good base for exploring the drained marshlands with their many canals, also referred to as La Venise Verte (the green Venice). You can do this, of course, in a special flatbottom boat or on foot. The Marais Poitevin is an unique nature reserve, in terms of size it is the second largest marshland area of France. Nature is still mostly unspoilt here. There are some 250 birds species in this marshy region. If you look very carefully, you may even spot a coypu.
