Camping de la Gères is a quietly located and child-friendly family campsite on the outskirts of the town of Surgères. With some fifty pitches, both camping pitches and rental accommodation, it is a rather small campsite. Yet all facilities are neatly and well maintained. There is a playground for children and in peak season activities are organised regularly.

Well-maintained campsite

The entire terrain of Camping de la Gères looks well maintained and cared for. The campsite has some fifty pitches, divided between free camping pitches and rental accommodation (chalets, mobile homes and lodge tents). The camping pitches are located on a grass surface and are separated from each other by small hedges. Therefore, each camper has his own spot with ample privacy.

Entertainment for all

Although the campsite is quietly located and relatively small, it is also very suitable for families with young children. They amuse themselves in the playground or (in peak season) with one of the activities organised by the entertainment team. They can do horseback riding or take part in bingo. Entertainment is also organised in the heated outdoor swimming pool. It is attractively located in the sun with a sunbathing lawn. You will find a few beach chairs here.

Everything within walking distance

After your swim, you can get dry on the campsite terrace whilst enjoying a refreshing drink or an ice cream. You can also get a quick meal from the camping snack bar, but you have to leave the campsite to do your shopping. Fortunately, all amenities are literally around the corner, because you will find a bakery and a supermarket just down the road.

Travelling party: Group of friends

Liked - Nathalie and Pascal are so friendly and welcoming, the place is also immaculate. The shower block is clean and fresh and toilet paper was provided in the toilets. The swimming pool was heated and there is a flume for the children. The bar served delicious food and was very reasonably priced, every night there was some sort of entertainment. The camp is not too big and you get to know everyone, we felt like part of the family, we love it there.

Travelling party: Seniors

Liked - Very kind and welcoming owners, lovely atmosphere on the site. This is our 3rd stay here and certainly will go back. The camp facilities are immaculately clean and prices in the bar very reasonable. The camp is a short stroll through the park to the town which is very pretty, it is also within a shot drive of places such as La Rochelle and some beautiful beaches.

Travelling party: Young couple

Liked - Much smaller than anticipated, but a lovely site with great facilities. Excellent swimming pool and toilets/showers. 30 seconds walk from a supermarket and an excellent bakery. 2 minutes walk into the town (small) but with a lovely castle and garden and a cafe/restaurant. La Guinguette was a particular highlight, a small open air cafe a minute from the campsite. Cheap wine, ham and cheese and live music. Overall had a really excellent stay, and would happily come here again.

Disliked - Not able to use the BBQ on our pitch which wasn't very well advertised before hand (no information on the website)
