Flower Camping L'Ile d'Offard is a town campsite on the outskirts of Saumur, located on a small island in the Loire. Here you camp under the watchful eye of the Castle of Saumur which is situated on a hill in the centre of town, on the other side of the river. With a wide and varied range of rental accommodation and delimitated touring pitches, the campsite has a place for every camper.

Camping on the Loire

The campsite, which stretches out on both sides of the Loire, offers space for almost 190 touring pitches and over 80 rental units. The many pitches, where the ground is not always level, give the campsite a slightly untidy impression. Nevertheless, the spacious touring pitches are clearly delimitated by hedges and trees. The most beautiful spots on the campsite are for the rental accommodations. You have a wide choice: from luxury lodge tents and chalets to the simpler mobile homes.

International camping public

The campsite attracts an international camping public. The rental accommodations are mainly occupied by families with children, while the touring pitches are occupied by campers of different ages.

Swimming with a view of the castle

The swimming pool is located att the front of the campsite, in a clearing in the sun. Here you can swim while overlooking the Castle of Saumur. Next to a large swimming area are a paddling pool and a whirlpool. Around the pools you will also find a large sun deck with sun loungers. Swimmers get thirsty. Have a drink on the pavement café of the bar!

Travelling party: Group of friends

Liked - Great location and a wonderful camping site. The staff are welcoming and efficient with a quick booking in process. Having an account helps here and I'd recommend having one. The site is in walking distance of the town where there are plenty of places to eat, drink and relax. There is plenty of culture as well. Don't forget the river. So much to see and do.

Liked - Friendly and helpful staff especially in the restaurant/bar.
Disliked - Only found 1 fresh water tap near us and this was at the motorhome service point. The wc emptying point tap and fresh water tap are close together and I saw someone washing out their cassette with the wrong tap. A separate clean water tap would much improve hygiene.

Travelling party: Single

Liked - Location is excellent, toilets and showers clean, pitch a good size and mostly grass. Welcoming staff in reception. Good facilities. Overall an excellent site which I have visited many times previously.
Disliked - The restaurant menu was limited to a buffet of hot meat and fish stews with cold sides - coleslaw, shredded carrots etc, unfortunately not to my taste. Lamb was neck and probably not cooked long enough as very chewy. Saffron chicken was excellent. I would have preferred a wider choice of food such as burgers /pizza. The chef and staff were welcoming.
A notice in the shower block said to remove footwear before entering the shower area, which I did. Good idea but doesn’t work as other people left muddy footprints on the tiles that I had to avoid after showering, resulting in gritty feet!

Liked - Quiet popular site out of season. Average cleanliness of showers and toilets.
Disliked - Pitches are untidy with low overhanging and overgrown huge trees which let no sunlight in.

Liked - Campsite ideally placed to visit Saumur. Very helpful staff with a choice of pitches available, all of a good size. Lots of activities available and the pool was super.

Liked - Loved the location. Chilled out vibe. Shady pitches.
Disliked - Food wasn’t great in restaurant.

When it rained, pitch turned into a bit of a mud bath.

If site is full, bigger swimming pool would be beneficial.
