In Charmes, situated in the Vosges (not far from Nancy), you will find the two-star campsite L'île aux mille Charmes. The Vosges is a touristy, hilly region with numerous lakes and extensive walking and cycling paths and mountain biking possibilities. The campsite is situated on the strip of land -it cannot really be called an island- between the Canal de l’Est en de Moselle river. It is a very quiet, green oasis less than 10 minutes away from the town centre. The campsite is opened from April to October.

Peace and simplicity
Camping L'île aux mille Charmes is a campsite, which is mainly of interest to people who are looking for peace and quiet and are averse to coordinated entertainment. The campsite is beautifully situated along the Moselle, far away from the hustle and bustle of the town, which extends on both side of the river. The river here is also not navigable for larger vessels. The water traffic along the canal is also limited because of the relatively small locks.
Overnight campsite
Camping L'île aux mille Charmes is a typical overnight campsite with hardly any permanent pitches. It is a rather open site interspersed with a few trees and unclearly demarcated pitches. The sanitary facilities are basic, but well maintained. As on most French campsites, L'île aux mille Charmes also has a petanque pitch.
Surroundings
In the vicinity of the campsite you will find a mini golf course and tennis courts. Fishing in the Moselle is allowed (fishing licenses are obtainable in town). Directly from the campsite there are signposted walks and cycling paths into the area. The campsite does not have a shop or restaurant, but Charmes counts several supermarkets, bakeries and restaurants.
