Camping de Châlons-en-Champagne is situated in a green suburb of the town of the same name, approx. 2.5 km from the centre. This campsite is a good base for visiting the town and the Champagne region and is situated next to a fish pond. The grounds are well-tended and offer camping pitches on grass or hardened surfaces with shade trees and occasionally separated by hedges.

This site has lovely large pitches with water and electricity, Staff/hosts where very helpful spoke good English. It has a restaurant on site didn't use it so cant comment on menu or quality. This is a large site and only had one washing machine and dryer so had to wait.
The negatives where the toilets and showers, these need to be totally refurbished the roof was coming down in places, I am used to staying in basic facilities but these were terrible and let the site down.

Pleasant site, and good walking location into town. However, whilst the newer (wooden) toilet block is reasonable, the other on on site can only be described as dreadful.
The bar/ restaurant is not to any required standard.

Have stayed many times for 1 night travelling through Europe. Very good hard standings separated with hedges. Also many grass pitches. Very well maintained - excellent. However it is time for the sanitary facilities to be renewed - very dated and as mentioned need more for the busy season. Would stay longer if they had new facilities.

Liked - The reception staff advised us that the site was abnormally busy owing to large numbers of grape pickers staying there. Local champagne was sold in the shop and was delicious. A pleasant walk around the lake adjacent to the site was available for our dog.
Disliked - Because of the time of year and the grape harvest the limited toilet and shower facilities were very busy. The cleaning staff did a great job but the showers are dated and there need to be more for the size of the camp.

Liked - When we booked, thankfully we had, we hadn't realised it was picking season for champagne and there'd be 300 workers on site. The site staff were lovely, providing useful information on when to grab a shower and managed the extra cleaning brilliantly. The workers seemed to be up half the night and early next morning, where do they find their energy? Luckily we sleep with ear plugs so no problem and the whole site had a lovely buzzy party atmosphere. Good size pitches, water at the pitch, all very well kept.

Good for an overnight stay. Emplacement with water and drainage a bonus. Old style 2 pin power socket. Can be noisy. Toilets and showers acceptable for a municipal site.

Liked - Easy walk into town and bakery just up the road. The fruit pickers were already there but that was no problem at all.
I would stay again if passing by.

Liked - Good size pitch
Disliked - Camp has a lot of grape pockets staying ( which we were told about in fairness) but basically meant for the time we were there you were unable to use any shower or toilet facilities after 6pm. They were all friendly but quite noisy!! Think a campsite needs to decide if it is a leisure facility for holiday makers or a accommodation for working teams. The requirements are very different.

Liked - Size of pitch. Shade provided by large mature trees.
Disliked - When we booked we were not told that 500 migrant workers were about to arrive even though a printed information sheet about them was shown when I enquired after they had arrived. The site looked like a refugee camp with many small tents closely pitched. The occupants were very noisy and there was great pressure on sanitary facilities making them unusable at certain times of the day. We cut short our stay as a result.
