The tranquil, green Le Rochat Belle-Isle campsite is situated in a park-like environment on the banks of the Indre river, which is excellent for fishing. Nearby, in Châteauroux, there are various facilities, so you will not miss them on the campsite. At the reception you are welcomed with a smile and you will be given information about the spacious and flat, well-demarcated camping pitches (80-130 m2) between the trees. Static caravans are also for rent.

The campsite (some 6 acres) is often used as a stopover campsite because of its favourable location along a traffic corridor to the south. The attractive feature of the campsite is the location at the river's edge and its proximity to a lovely recreational lake. Visitors appreciate the campsite for its beautiful location, walking distance to the recreational lake, swimming pool and running track.

Lac Belle-Isle

The nearby recreational Lac Belle-Isle has a large play area, beach showers and play ground equipment. The lake has a demarcated area where children can swim safely. From the restaurant at the water's edge, where the natives also like to eat, you have a splendid view. Guests also enjoy the dance evenings and performances that are organised here on a regular basis.

Aquatic centre in Châteauroux

Since 10 June 2021, a new aquatic centre called Balsan'éo has opened in Châteauroux. It is located three kilometres from the campsite and is open every day until 7 pm. The campsite offers free access to the aquatic centre for one person per stay. You can buy extra tickets at the campsite reception. In the centre you will find a large competition pool (indoors), an outdoor pool, a wading pool, wellness area, massage showers, saunas, solarium, hammam and herbal tea room.

"Kind transit camp site (also for a longer stay) located in a park-like environment near the city centre. Situated in the immediate vicinity of a recreational lake with large play ground with play equipment. Free swimming-pool at 100m from the camp site. Cycling routes from the camp site. Free bus transport in the direction of the city centre."

Travelling party: Seniors

Liked - Proximity to town centre 20 minutes walk. Surrounding water park theme looked good despite atrocious weather conditions during my stay.
Disliked - Move the workers to a separate area from tourists and holiday makers. Many workers become in off shift and make excessive noise and commotion during the evening. Some workers also continue to make noise after the curfew times.

Liked - an excellent night stop at this camp, with beautiful walks around the lake. Great showers.
However it was very tricky to actually get into the site on this occasion due to the road blocks because of the evening music concert.

Liked - Lovely location for lake and walking to town. Staff friendly. Excellent bread and croissants for breakfast. Good value.
Disliked - Have some basic items for sale e.g milk, given the toilet block a good deep clean!

Liked - Friendly welcome, always friendly employees during our stay. Perfect bread service, sanitary facilities ok, showers nice and warm (max 7 minutes/day).
Large camper pitches that you can choose yourself. 10A current, several water taps.
Right next to the campsite is a large park with a swimming and fishing pond, many walking and cycling opportunities. There is also a good restaurant on this site. The city center is easily accessible on foot or by bike via park.

Liked - Very clean toilets, but no seats. Toilet paper is available at the entrance of toilets, not in each cubicle. If you use the showers furthest from reception there is no timer and great pressure, one of the best showers I have had on any campsite. If you use showers by reception you need a bracelet (given to you on arrival) to activate the shower and it is timed at 7 minutes and only one use a day. I understand this is to stop non residents using the facilities as there is a camping aire just outside. We stayed 3 nights and found it to be a pleasant quiet site with very friendly staff.
Disliked - We were in a large motorhome and found some of the pitches looked very wet. You could see where vehicles had struggled to get off the pitch. We arrived quite early and reception tell you to choose your own pitch so we were lucky to select a dry one. Some areas were marked off as not available due to the wet ground. If that could be improved it would benefit the site.

Great site .. very friendly staff .. stayed here for 5 weeks whilst partner recovered from unexpected surgery .. can’t recommend enough ..staff and site owner very friendly and helpful .. close to a lovely lake and bar/ restaurant and town easy walking distance.
Locals very friendly .. didn’t want to leave .. definitely recommend

Liked - Receptionist was lovely. Nice to be by the lake.
Disliked - Toilet/shower room extremely dirty. No toilet paper. Dogs running loose. Seven minute timer per day for showering.

Liked - Large pitch and next to park, helpful reception staff, close to vets for those returning to uk
Disliked - The sanitary facilities aren’t so clean, people from outside the campsite are using the toilets even though they have been stopped from using the showers.
