Camp on the estate of a castle at camping Château de la Rolandière. This small-scale campsite is situated on a secluded spot in the Loire Valley, in the middle of the undulating landscape of the Touraine. You arrive at a shady estate, where you camp in peace and quiet, in an intimate setting. You don't need much more than that. Perhaps a dip in the outdoor swimming pool, which offers a view of the castle.

Restful camping

Within the castle walls an attractive, peaceful campsite appears. The front part of the terrain is resembling an orchard. Here you camp under the trees, with a view of the castle, on touring pitches delimited by hedges. Further down the campsite has a more open character. Because of just fifty touring pitches you camp in an intimate setting, but you will always find company when you want to have a chat with one of your fellow guests. If you want a real royal overnight stay, book one of the rooms in the castle.

Swimming pool at the castle

At the back of the campsite, next to the castle, you will find the swimming pool. This simple swimming pool is not particularly royal, neither in size nor in appearance. Still, you can enjoy a lovely swim while looking out over the castle. The outdoor pool is well cared for and is large enough for the amount of guests.

Foodtruck

Next to the castle there is an old building that a.o. houses the recreation room. Here you will also find a bar and, at the back, a pavement café. In the summer months a food truck comes every evening attracting the campers with the smell of homemade hamburgers.

"The stylish castle is the centre of this rural camp site. An orchard with shaded pitches, park, swimming-pool, midget golf court, restaurant and meeting room. Hospitality and peace are highly valued. Good base for walking and cycling journeys."

Stunning surroundings and peaceful atmosphere. A free guided tour of the chateau with a glass of wine to follow was fab.

Liked - We enjoyed the visiting "market stall" and "food truck" and loved the pool. Our pitch was close to amenities. The site was quiet and we felt welcomed by the owners.
Disliked - The pool closes early (7.30pm) and the shop was extremely basic (but who doesn't like a trip to Super-U?). The showers are old and rustic but excellent sinks for washing up and hand wash laundry. Internet was patchy, having to log in constantly to two different links and an extra cost €3 per night pp.

Travelling party: Family with children, 4 – 12 years

Liked - Small peaceful site, friendly staff, owners were always willing to help/advise local things to see and were happy to take time to speak to you. Food trucks were a great idea incl pizza and burger and a local shop visiting one evening selling local produce, no pressure to buy
Disliked - n/a

Travelling party: Young couple

Liked - Beautiful chateaux and grounds, clean pool with lots of sunbeds and parasols. Owner went out of his way to be flexible about our arrival times
Disliked - Took time for hot water to flow in the showers and there were some scary spiders there.
