Close to the village of Poupehan, the Semois river meanders through a magnificent landscape of woodlands and forests. Campsite Le Prahay is the very first campsite you will get to from the village. Here you camp in an oasis of greenery and tranquillity. With its takeover in 2018, a young Dutch couple has breathed new life into the campsite.

Green, greener, greenest

The camping pitches are very generous in size. When the campsite is not fully booked, you can choose a pitch near the river where the occasional tree will provide some shade. Alternatively, you can choose a spot a bit further away from the river on a separate tent area. Wherever you camp, you have a view of the surrounding forests.

Camping in a rental tent

What to do if you want to spend your holiday here but do not have a tent or caravan. Simply rent one of the three tepee tents, one of the five luxury sleeping tents or one of the two luxury safari tents with private sanitary facilities.

Sports activities in and on the river

On Campsite Le Prahay you leave the hustle and bustle of city life behind you. Enjoy reading a good book while the children keep themselves busy in the river with a bucket and landing net. If you like to cast a line, don't forget to bring your gear along. Please note: you need a fishing permit.

You can also 'take on' the river by kayak. You can hire a kayak some five hundred metres along from the campsite. Or you can borrow one on the campsite for a short trip.

Travelling party: Young couple

Het begint al bij aankomst. Onze plek die wij specifiek gereserveerd hebben is bezet. Bij de receptie word beweerd dat wij geen keuze hebben aangegeven en moet ik mijn bestelling in de mail laten zien totdat ze ons gelooft. Nu moesten wij onze plek delen met anderen of we konden een slechtere plek nemen. De mensen die op onze plek stonden hadden hetzelfde probleem. Ook zijn hadden een plek gereserveerd waar al andere mensen stonden. Voor de problemen is verder ook geen excuus aangeboden.

Verder wordt er elke ochtend tijdens het ontbijt het gras gemaaid door een man met een vape in zijn mond (in ons geval). Niet heel representatief al zeg ik het zelf. In ieder geval erg vervelend qua geluid.

Voor de rest stond er op de plattegrond aangegeven dat er een groot gebouw is met voorziening van douches en toiletten. Aangekomen op de camping blijkt dit nog in bouw te zijn en staat daarnaast een klein tijdelijk douche en wc gebouwtje (4 douches & wc\'s voor groot deel van de camping). Hierdoor moest je vaak wachten op je beurt. Ook was er \'s ochtend wat geluidoverlast van de bouw van de nieuwe toiletten en douches.

Naast deze punten zag de camping er erg mooi uit. Was er een gezellig cafe waar je gezellig wat kon drinken (met soms een kampvuur). En uiteraard een erg mooi uitzicht.
