In the east of the tourist Tirol region, on the south side of the mighty Grossglockner, lies Nationalparkcamping Kals. You camp here on a low lying field or on one of the terraces. The campsite is popular with nature lovers and sports enthusiasts. With ski pistes galore, walking and cycling paths (from easy to strenuous) in the immediate vicinity of the campsite, there is no need to be bored.

Camping amidst the mountains

On campsite Nationalparkcamping Kals you can choose your own pitch. This can be down on the campsite or up on one of the terraces. Although the pitches are not demarcated, you will have ample privacy. This is because the pitches are very spacious. The pitches are level with a grass surface, but vegetation is limited because of the high altitude of the campsite.

There are more than one hundred touring pitches. The campsite does not offer rental accommodation, so you have to bring your own tent, trailer tent, motorhome or caravan.

Winter sport paradise

Winter sport enthusiasts will appreciate the shuttle bus which travels between the campsite to the pistes. However, even if you do not like snow that much, you can indulge in other sporty activities. You can go walking or cycling, for instance. On the campsite and in the village of Kals you will also come across many mountaineering fanatics. There is not a great deal to do on the campsite for children, but there is a playground within a two minute walk from the grounds.

Restaurants in Kals

There is no restaurant on the campsite, but you will find a few eating establishments in the village of Kals. You can also do your shopping in Kals.

Liked - Perfect place. Great and kind staff.
Located in the valley all around the mountains. Love this place, I was here for second time and I will come sure again.
Very clean toiletd, very clean bathroom. Really nice hospitality

Liked - The Owner and staff were really friendly. Everything was clean , the management did a great job. The athmosphere and the guests were also friendly. The showers and toilets were always clean!

This was our first time there and we did not know where we will arrive and we were amazed. The montains next to us and the area is incredibly beautiful. Top place to stay ! :)
Disliked - little note, but it was deffenetly not a bad thing!
Shower head/ hose would have been more confortable. Especially for ladies, who does not wants to wash their hair every night. ( i was unable to shower without getting my hair wet, only shower cap worked ) The washing machines were small capacity and there was 2, one day was the laundry. we did not know when the preveious program will stop, also other people waited to do the washing.

Liked - It was a great first experience of camping life for us. Toilets and showers are clean. Even though the camping was full the atmosphere had been respectful.
Disliked - Maybe some kind of queueing or booking system for washing machines would make sense during the high season.

Liked - We stayed two nights at camping Kals. Everything was perfect due to a friendly welcome and spacious camp spot. The sanitary facilities were clean and the location was great! The campsite is very green and many hikes start directly near the campsite.

Liked - We stayed only for a night and that was also a short one but the sunrise was a marvel. This is a site situated right at the heart of the mountain, a picturesque place. I wish we could have done one of the hikes possible from there.
Disliked - Did not have time to find them. :)
