Waldviertel Camping is close to the town of Groß-Gerungs in the west of the Austrian state of Lower Austria. Here, you camp in a wonderful peaceful spot, in natural green surroundings, far from traffic noise and urban bustle. You can take wonderful walks through the alternating hilly landscapes in this unspoiled area. This is also a suitable base for winter sports enthusiasts. This campsite is right on a cross-country trail and 20 km from the closest ski lift. Waldviertel Camping has a good restaurant, an outdoor playground and a sauna, among other things.

Open campsite around granite boulders

The reception is in what they call the Gasthof. There, Christoph and Christina give campers a friendly welcome. Behind this building there is a neatly levelled grass field with numbered touring pitches. A nice thing is that there are a few large granite boulders in the middle of this open campsite. Besides a spacious camping pitch, you can stay in an apartment, a room or hiker's cabin at Waldviertel Camping. You have free WiFi throughout the campsite.

Enjoy the freshly made Waldviertel specialities

You can have wonderful dinners in Gasthof Einfalt on every Thursday Friday and Saturday. The menu mainly comprises Waldviertel delicacies. To prepare the dishes, they use local organic ingredients as far as possible. That means the menu changes often. You can usually choose from two or three dishes, of which one is vegetarian. Tip: the Erdäpfelknödel is very popular among most restaurant guests! Furthermore, you can go to the Gasthof every day for a fresh breakfast.
